I had my first game of Senji a couple of days ago, and it's clear that the starting positions for each player are very different. (Senji map: http://goo.gl/LuHTA)

In a 6 player game it seems to me that the Yellow player and the Black player have a bit of an edge since their territory is easier to defend. On the other hand the Purple player is surrounded by 4 out of 5 players, so seems more likely to be attacked.

Do you think it is easier to progress in the game depending on your starting position? Does this mean your starting position will determine your strategy?
