I'm considering creating an expansion pack for Huggermugger. I really love this game, but playing by the standard rules, oftentimes the game is too easy and can finish far too quickly. With that in mind, I'd love to add some harder challenges to this great old game.
In the expansion, I'd like to see several hundred more question cards, and add a few new rules to make the game a little more fun. The rule changes would be:
- At the start of the game, each player receives three "exchange" tokens
- When an opponent is about to read the active player a question, the opponent may spend an exchange token to discard the current question card in exchange for a new one
- When a player lands on a numbered square, the opponent chooses the category after reading the questions on the next card (in the standard rules, the active player chooses the category)
I imagine the best way to create this expansion would be to open source it - I'm thinking perhaps a wiki where anyone can contribute a new anagram or definition selection or word to spell etc.
If there's any interest in this sort of thing, please let me know! I love this game, but it can get a bit easy with the questions and rules included in the standard set.
Thanks for reading :) and Game On!
(I'm also fiddling with an idea for the anagrams: in the expansion, if you have learned between 0 and 2 of the letters of the mystery word, you'd get a six letter anagram, but a seven letter anagram if you've learned at least 3 - worth the extra complication?)
