About

A Go move, usually in the opening, that jumps along the side from an existing friendly stone (or wall), leaving a space between them and staying within one line of previous stone's height.

Extensions at the same height are often referred to by the number of spaces left, like a 2-space jump or a 3-space jump. In general, jumping could be in any direction, but an extension is near the side and parallel to the side.
