A Go term for playing inside another player's moyo with the intention of living or escaping.

A "shallow" invasion, near the edge of a framework is classified as a "reduction", whereas a deeper play is pure "invasion", although often the difference is determined by how the opponent responds. If she tries to trap and kill, it is an invasion, but if she plays solidly below, it is a reduction.

There is a proverb: "Invade a moyo one move before it becomes territory."
