Cleaner [klee-ner] adj
1. characteristic valued by a programmer's personal preference for something that cannot otherwise be justified using accepted Software Engineering principles: This approach increases cyclomatic complexity and reduces encapsulation. It's cleaner, do it.

comment Sorcery supercedes instant?
There is only one stack. It is a game zone. Spells do not "start a stack." It's always there. Mixing terminology with Yu-Gi-Oh chains is a bad path to follow :)

comment How does Valakut trigger with a card like Harrow or Scapeshift putting multiple mountains into play?
This is incorrect. The first check of the if condition occurs when the trigger condition is met, not when the ability would be put on the stack. These are not the same time. It matters for spells like Hypergenesis where things are not entering the battlefield simultaneously.

comment Can I have multiple copies of a creature with Cipher?
"This can happen as many times as you can manage to deal COMBAT damage to a player with the creature." -- important distinction :)

Just an addendum, because of the way you asked the original question, the correct answer for a communication issue in a CREL event is always "whatever the head judge that day thinks."

comment Why does Wizards of the Coast print terrible MTG cards?
For commons and uncommons of any 'modern' set the answer will pretty much always be "that color was too good in draft testing"

comment How can I balance mandatory quests in two-player games of Lords of Waterdeep?
IMO take them out entirely. And if you ever find a worker-placement game that actually scales down to two players really well, let me know!!!

comment Are counters (noun) physical things?
Note that using other cards is forbidden in the context of a sanctioned event :)

comment If a +1/+1 counter is removed after a creature takes damage, does it die?
Sorry, I didn't think I was being super critical of the entire game or something. It is a plain fact that representing damage as reduced toughness is incorrect. It may have been the right software implementation decision at the time, but particularly with the arrival of "evolve" the widespread misunderstanding about that it caused has been kind of a pain for judging casual FNMs :)

comment If I am going to start playing Magic The Gathering, what set should I start with?
Also, in the specific context of introducing a 12 year old to the game, the "core set" i.e., M13, is intentionally made up of cards with fewer complicated rules and interactions to understand.

comment How much money would I have to spend to play in tournaments?
vintage is a little weird though since it's almost never played as a sanctioned format and is usually a proxy tournament when played at all.

It makes a massive difference, since you asked about deck building also. Between buying 4 of every card in every new set so that you can do your deck building before deciding what to play, or just by the deck you ultimately decide on before the tournament?

comment APNAP rulings applied to world effects
The content is actually worthwhile to other users in that the Oracle +lands is an extra special case. When an Oracle resolves you can in fact drop both lands without your opponent ever getting priority, because of special rules related to lands. OP may have not had any idea he was asking a question that covered special conditions, but "lucking into" a good question doesn't make it less worthwhile to answer ;)
