I'm a fifth year graduate student in physics at Penn State University, doing research in high-energy particle phenomenology. I also have a hobby interest in computer programming.

Where can I find Magic: the Gathering puzzles? @Affe: actually the Duelist continued to publish until just prior to the release of Mercadian Masques, which was several months after 6th edition came out. If I remember correctly, the last 7-ish issues had puzzles that used the 6th edition rules and would still mostly work as designed today. Even prior to that, there were probably quite a few puzzles that weren't "broken" by the 6E rules update. |

What Is The Optimal Innistrad Sealed Deck From This Card Pool? Interesting, I always thought you had to return your deck to its original configuration at the start of each round, in any format... but you're right, it's not required in tournaments without decklists. (I'm too used to playing online, I suppose, where your deck is automatically reset at the beginning of each round) |

How can I tell the difference between early Magic: The Gathering card editions? Yeah, though Wizards has gotten a lot more consistent in their use of expansion symbols. The vast majority of cards printed since 2001 can be identified by the symbol; there are only a couple of special sets for which you'd need to look at other characteristics of the card (according to Wikipedia). |

What happens when you remove a token creature from the game, and then return it under it's owner's control? @OrigamiRobot: no, my quote is copied and pasted from the current comprehensive rules, last updated September 30, 2011. It must be yours that's out of date, or from an unofficial source, or something. In any case, both versions say effectively the same thing; in particular, nobody has claimed that tokens don't trigger "leaves the battlefield" abilities. |

What happens when you remove a token creature from the game, and then return it under it's owner's control? @WillfulWizard (2 comments up): that seems like a bad habit to get into, namely skipping over pieces of an answer and expecting to get the point of it anyway. Especially the comprehensive rules, which in my experience are pretty clearly written, considering how precisely they define the game. (That being said, I do believe that a good answer should explain the relevance of any quote (or link) it includes to the question at hand.) |

How many lands should I have in my sealed or draft decks? @JSBᾶngs: perhaps just outdated. Back in 1998-ish a lot of decks ran about 21 lands. Of course back then, the average CMC of a spell in one of these decks was probably less than 2, which is somewhat harder to get away with today. Even at that time, control decks and others that had more expensive spells would normally use 24-26 lands. |

Oblivion Ring targeting an Aura @Stephen: attaching isn't inherently targeted, I'm pretty sure, so you could attach it to a creature with hexproof or shroud. |
