I am a mathematician by profession and quite a long-time (since around 1995 – as of now [2014], this means more than half of my life) TeX user by hobby.

I started with plain TeX, and much later (in the early 2000s) moved to LaTeX; I still use plain TeX occasionally (and when writing LaTeX classes/packages). Quite recently I also started to use ConTeXt.

I am a heavy Emacs user, though still a newbie – I started in 2001.

I have a blog about (among others) TeX and friends, located at http://mbork.pl/Content_AND_Presentation.

comment Using Vassal on a small screen
Thank you very much; alas, I'll probably have no choice (the battery in my laptop might not be enough for my use). Fortunately, hopefully I'll be able to mitigate some of these problems (to some extent at least): I could put different windows on virtual desktops or use a tiling window manager (I don't use windows). And I could insist on my friend to prepare a not-so-huge map, too;). At least I know what to expect...

comment How much bandwidth does Vassal consume?
Thanks a lot - this is what I've expected. I have a flat rate, so with low bandwidth it should work perfectly well for me.
