Is pawn promotion to rook or bishop something that is seen in play? @Steven h1=Q+ would not "obviously" have won, because it is illegal. |

In Seafarers of Catan, are there any special rules for ships or harbors in lakes? I don't think this applies in the same way. The lake in Fishermen is a special case with many special rules attached, not a regular water hex. The regular rules should apply to water hexes surrounded by land unless specifically stated otherwise. And in real life, there are many lakes big enough for boats to facilitate international trade, e.g. the Caspian Sea or Lake Victoria. |

In Chess what is the Queens or Kings Indian? I was a little shocked by the 9 upvotes and wished to point out how the answer is factually incorrect (though it surely could be useful). I would vote this down if I had more rep: I don't have a more comprehensive answer in mind to the OP's question. |

In Chess what is the Queens or Kings Indian? This answer is nonsense. "Indian" refers to the family of openings after 1. d4 Nf6 other than transpositions to the QGD. cf Bogo-Indian, Old Indian, Nimzo-Indian which do not necessarily feature a fianchetto. The "King's Indian" normally refers to the King's Indian Defence 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 without ...d5 soon. The King's Indian Attack has a different character, but is named by analogy with the KID. |

Chess variant that allows humans to be competitive vs computers The chessboard does not "naturally" lend itself to Arimaa as you claim: it does not mark the trap squares like an ideal Arimaa board does. And the site you give only supports my claim: it also has an entry for checkers. |

Chess variant that allows humans to be competitive vs computers Arimaa is not a chess variant, but a totally different game. It can be played with the same equipment as chess, but so can draughts (checkers), tic-tac-toe, or 9x9 Go. It's no more similar to chess than any of those games. |

What is the repeated move stalemate? Previously, a draw could only be claimed if the same sequence of moves occurred three times. The rules were changed after World Champion and mathematician Max Euwe used the Thue-Morse sequence to show that, in theory, a game could go on infinitely long without ever repeating the same sequence of moves. Of course, since there are only finitely many positions, if a game goes on infinitely long then some position will have been repeated three times. |
