comment Has online play testing been an important part of any boardgame designs?
@rrenaud Imagine a very optimistic budget to create an online implementation of $20,000. Then imagine how many playtest sessions of the physical game that you could get for half that amount.

As a software developer, creating an online implementation is many orders of magnitude more difficult than getting a group of people to playtest a physical game. So you'd only do this if you wanted to release the online version simultaneously, which seems like putting the cart before the horse.

comment Are multicolor decks in any color combination viable in modern Magic?
Unless you are running a specialty deck like gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/…, you still generally want to have exactly 60 cards, because that gives you the best chance of drawing your best cards.

Since the pre-release was a one time thing, should we change this to say Draft instead?

You don't bid a number in Euchre, so the sentence before your disclaimer doesn't make much sense.

comment Good Euchre bidding strategy guide?
"The dealer determines the trump suit". That doesn't seem like an accurate statement. The only special power of the dealer is picking up the turned up card if anyone declares that suit trump.

comment How is a roleplaying game not a board game?
Why is it not possible to be both a roleplaying game and a board game? They seem to be more a continuum than an absolute. Some things are pretty close to the middle. Example: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/127324/story-realms

comment Why do cards have different rarity levels in Magic: The Gathering?
"so now that we know the rarity of cards is simply an indicator of the worth of the card in actual gameplay" I completely disagree with that statement. I'll give you a deck of handpicked (weak) rares and play a deck of handpicked (strong) commons and I guarantee that the commons will win.

comment Is it possible to lose Forbidden Island on the first turn?
Its definitely not in the rules. It's a bit different from Pandemic, where you would only go through the pile once. Here you'll likely shuffle the deck a couple times during the game as well. Each Waters Rise card is executed separately, so the second one just ups the counter without having any additional effect (which is much less painful than consecutive Epidemics in Pandemic causing an automatic outbreak).
