comment How can you have units with secret locations on the board?
Re: Decoy markers - that's essentially how Stratego works; have a marker on ever space, but only some of them actually be units.

Thanks for the link. I was very close to finding that link, but must have clicked "rules" instead of "learn game" (or something like that)!

comment Do you need a solo player variant to make a Print&Play game successful?
p.s. I love helping out developers (at least, as far as the past 2-3 PnP's have gone!). If your friend is open to having more play-testing, let me know :)

Unless you are planning on having a 1-player version of the final product, I can't really see how having a 1-player PnP is useful... one player can just play for multiple colors/teams.

comment What is optimal end play in Settlers?
Things have changed a lot in the 11 years since I first played. It used to be the rule that trading and buying were separate phases in one's turn, and once you had started to buy, you couldn't return to trade (even 3:1, 4:1 etc)

Doesn't the limit on playing dev cards apply to all types (with Victory cards being revealed, rather than played)?

comment How is the “Longest Route” calculated in Ticket to Ride?
@Matthew: That is helpful and definitive. I guess most times that I've played (live or on iOS), it hasn't come up since the winner of Longest Route usually has... well... one really long route!

I'd better (re)consult the rules before going further :)

Pat, I'm not sure on the best course of action (1 - edit your answer, or 2 - make my own answer). Those of us who know the rule can interpret/apply your first sentence (and @Matthew 's comment about 11 cars vs 8 cars) correctly, but "longest continuous number of train cars" is very imprecise. Without citing a bunch of wolfram math definitions, maybe we could say "The owner of the longest simple (non-self-intersecting) route, as measured by number of trains,..." or something like that? It is certainly possible for an 11 car (non simple) route to be "shorter" than an 8 car route.
