New idea in Sicilian for white? This was my intention by the move 3.e5, to top it off, if black had played 2... d6, then 3.e5 really looks like an interesting move as now both players will eventually have isolated d pawns or no central pawns. However, is the idea of 3.e5 itself questionable? |

What techniques should I use to teach my 5-year old to play chess? I think the answer also depends on what you want out of this. A top level player or someone who is familiar with the game. Both require different efforts. |

What techniques should I use to teach my 5-year old to play chess? I think at 5 this is simply unnecessary and at the very least stupid. |

What techniques should I use to teach my 5-year old to play chess? @erikH, Although I agree that it is a good idea to start with a piece down, I think it is better to play with all pieces and get into the habit of notating and analyzing games. I know I was notating when I was 7 (I started that year), so at 5, that should not be an issue. |
