What happens if an alliance is created that would create an illegal battle? Three excellent suggestions here; all good rules and thematically appropriate. +1. |

Alternatives to the Sympathiser in Battlestar Galactica It might be worth taking a look at the Pegasus expansion, which has alternative rules intended to address this. |

Small World : purpose of hiding VP Specifically, this is the reason why the designer added the hidden VP rule to Small World. The aim was to prevent the end-game kingmaking which is prevalent in Vinci. |

Differences between Clue/Cluedo and Clue: Discover the Secrets I've been a reactionary nitpicker all my life. But being a Cluedo purist seems staggeringly pointless. |

Khet: differences with version 2.0? The new lasers don't significantly change the complexity, as they don't move in a normal game. The only rules change there is the ability to rotate 90 degrees to fire 'left'. |

Is kingmaking in multiplayer games a problem that can be fixed? I was going to answer, but now I can't because this has already said everything. Now I'm going to go away and rethink my whole approach. In the meantime, this deserves +many. |

Can every game of Solitaire be solved? With 52! starting shuffles, you'll need an... inconveniently long... time before you have a good list. Even after you solve the problem of determining unwinnable definitively. |

What is the most cost effective Warhammer box set based on size and number of models? This is a solid answer. Definitely avoid Finecast; terrible model cost-efficiency. I'd second Black Reach; it's the best-value set on purpose. Consider Tyranids or Imperial Guard; both put a lot of troops on the table, with appearance strongly determined by your choice of paint scheme. (Imperial Guard used to be a more cost-efficient, but that's no longer true.) |

What is the most cost effective Warhammer box set based on size and number of models? @CaulynDarr: I can't agree; the thing that has always made GW the expensive game is that their individual metals cost two or three times as much as comparable ones. (But I'm leading away from the question now, so I'll stop here.) |

What is the most cost effective Warhammer box set based on size and number of models? If cost-efficiency is your main goal, 'anything not made by GW' will certainly accomplish it better. It follows that you have some specific reason for preferring Warhammer (like knowing other people who play it). That being the case, is there any preference for fantasy or 40k? Or do you genuinely not care which of the two you play? |

40K: What are the disadvantages of playing Necrons? The new codex has apparently changed a lot, so I'm not sure how much this still applies. They still have a narrow range of anti-vehicle options, but the new scarabs definitely don't seem to be 'sub-par'. |

What makes a cooperative board game actually a game? Great answer. +1 for that opening, which gets to the heart of it: quantifiable outcome. A cooperative game can still be lost. |

How can I play games with closed information with players who cheat? +1 because I find this an interesting game design problem also. (Consider Fury of Dracula, which has hidden information but contains an audit trail which prevents Dracula cheating.) |

Help! I'm A Cylon! @thesunneversets: The fleet attacks are definitely the biggest random shift in the gameplay. Sometimes the humans can deal with everything infuriatingly easily; sometimes they get swamped and die. Normally Cylons want to reveal during a busy attack, but sometimes it just won't come and you have to reveal and go fetch it. |
