comment settlers of catan expansion: Can I trade with the bank during the special building phase?
Indeed - the rule isn't clear from only the 5-6 player expansion rules. In general, I've found the Catan rules to be written with little ambiguity - although sometimes they feel like they over-specify in order to achieve that :)

This is incorrect - see my answer below. The 4:1 trade is "maritime trade", and so it is expressly forbidden by the rulebook.

comment Look Out Sir save clarifications
It's worth noting that a successful look out sir doesn't mean the wound is "saved", just that someone else takes the wound. Of course, the newly wounded model can try to save the wound with their armour or invulnerable save.

+1 I've always seen it played this way in person and in battle reports. Although it's not explicitly stated in the rules (as is so often the case with this rulebook), "This represents the character ducking back further into the unit, holding a comrade in the line of fire,or being pushed aside by a selfless ally." implies that it is the model taking the wound that makes the roll.

I think it's underhanded to apply one rule to yourself, and another to everyone else. But, yes, it's easily mitigated :)

However, I think it's only in rare situations where it would actually affect the outcome of the game - say a player has just drawn tickets, and they have almost completed LA->NYC, except for one 2-train route. One of the other players might choose to conservatively block that route in their next turn. This is obviously useful information. Most times that tickets are drawn, you won't have a situation like that.

If you were going to play the blocking route anyway, it's probably best to wait until the player has selected that ticket- so they end up with the penalty. If you're selecting tickets, I'm not sure there's much disadvantage in allowing play to continue without you, since you can make more informed decisions.

comment Which Dominion Expansion Should we Buy for Passive Play?
A little off topic, but you might also enjoy race for the galaxy, which is a "race" to build the best space empire, without directly competitive elements (until you get to the third expansion, and even then it's rare).
