@tttppp We actually allow that. If the challenge is "too many cards", then the previous player checks the 5th card to see if it's correct. Of course, this still requires some degree of honesty. When we play cheat, we allow players to cheat however they wish except lying when challenged. For us, it works very well - and we'd just stop playing with someone who lied when challenged.

The purpose of draw-two isn't necessarily to speed up the game time, it's to speed up the time between any player actions (to prevent players getting bored with the constant passing)- if players pick more cards each turn, they are be more likely to be able to cast a spell, or will be able to participate in (or start) transactions more often. However, even draw-two still has long pauses.
