what is a storage counter on a land card and how do you use it? @ghoppe Yeah, you're right. If a counter is purely doing its own non-interactive thing, on a card that is unlikely to receive counters of a different kind in the course of normal play, there is no reason at all why it shouldn't have a charming and quirky name. |

what is a storage counter on a land card and how do you use it? I think in the early days of magic counters were called pretty much anything the card designer's feverish imagination could come up. It was only later on that they tried to rationalise things and have consistent naming conventions for types of counters. |

What are the chances of shooting the moon in Hearts? I don't know if this is the right answer, but it's an automatic +1 just for effort... |

Was the blind chess match between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty in the movie Game of Shadows real/plausible? @Johno According to Wikipedia, in Alan Moore's comic League of Extraordinary Gentlemen it is suggested that Dean is Prof Moriarty's great-grandson, but as far as I know a link between the two characters hasn't been suggested anywhere else... |

What are the chances of shooting the moon in Hearts? I played Microsoft Hearts obsessively at one point until I managed to shoot the moon four times consecutively for the supposed "perfect score" of 104-0-0-0, and then gave it up forever. I can't remember why I felt the need to do such a thing, and it did take quite a while! |

Was the blind chess match between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty in the movie Game of Shadows real/plausible? ...like how the poker games in movies, where the protagonists stake massive amounts on the turn of a single card (which magically ends up providing them with a royal flush), are not in fact anything close to the way in which good poker players actually play. |

Do cards that say “Each player…” target me? Good, that's what I thought. I saw some potential for confusion in "...and are attached to player, so they are affected by Shroud". Being attached to a player doesn't actually interact very much with Shroud at all, except insofar as usually things become attached via targeting (?) |

Do cards that say “Each player…” target me? If a True Believer is cast subsequently to a player being enchanted by a Curse, that wouldn't cause the Curse to fall off, am I right? Or am I confused? |

Was the blind chess match between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty in the movie Game of Shadows real/plausible? Just one question, I haven't seen Game of Shadows, but does it really involve a "Dean" Moriarty? As in, the guy from Kerouac's "On The Road"? |

If a +1/+1 counter is removed after a creature takes damage, does it die? the Xbox game is mostly quite good in its rules implementation; that way of representing damage was a rare case of them using a convenient visual shorthand that doesn't quite reflect what's actually going on under the hood. I'd say it's unfair to describe it as them having "gotten it wrong". I assume they made the decision after giving it due consideration. Mostly you don't have to worry about DotP giving you the wrong idea when it comes to transitioning to "proper" Magic. |

Where can I get my Magic the Gathering play critiqued? There are loads of text-based drafts on Salvation, and even a few people willing to critique them. Here's the first one I dug up: forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=493463 |

If I am going to start playing Magic The Gathering, what set should I start with? I think by series you probably mean "block" (in Magic terminology)... |
