comment Church Warden vs Reed Hut in Round 14
Without getting in touch with the coders of the iOS game I can't be sure how their version works, but your answer seems the only reasonable interpretation of the Compendium and a perfectly sensible approach!

comment Church Warden vs Reed Hut in Round 14
Yes, it includes scoring. Everyone's got a move to go and the FG Without Room space hasn't been taken (but it may well be before my final two moves). VERY INTERESTINGLY the iOS implementation decided to let me use Reed Hut guy in the order he joined my family - i.e. as my third move. So I'm not sure it's fully legit, but it seems like I would be able to take 5 moves including Family Growth the way things are going...

(This is assuming that Reed Hut guy even counts for the purposes of Church Warden! I think he does because a Guest does, but maybe I shouldn't assume anything...)

comment What are the most busted cards in Agricola?
I'm playing an online game right now on an iPad and I just played the Ratcatcher. I don't really see how it isn't broken - it costs one action to effectively take 2 actions away from every other player. That's an astonishing swing in your favour for an unbelievably small amount of effort, IMO - there isn't even any competition for Occupation spaces by the time you want to play the Ratcatcher...

comment When land becomes creature can you kill it?
Yep, I remember Teferi's Response. Wasn't that a (typically extravagant, but not especially effective) attempt by Wizards to stop the tournament scene from being completely overrun by Rishadan Ports?

comment How Unethical Is A Purely “Blocking” Move In Ticket To Ride?
I always feel like "slaughtering" a less experienced player is okay if you do it in a nice way (i.e. being willing to demonstrate to them how they might be able to beat you the next time), as opposed to a horrible gloating one. Competitiveness for its own sake is bad, but so is playing very suboptimally in a game which is designed to have winners and losers...

comment How should I approach teaching Magic:The Gathering to a new player?
@deworde If you think "deciding whether to run a 3/3 attacker into two defending 2/2s" is the real core of play, then I suppose... there's a lot of vanilla cards in Portal, and an experienced player can generally size up the board position very quickly. Not my thing I have to say.

comment Do creatures with Defender ability die?
I'd be amazed if your brother wasn't playing with Fog Banks. Which have a special reason for not dying when blocking a big creature, unrelated to their having Defender.

comment Mini game within a game
A very controversial card, given that its main function seems to be for building decks that can spin out the length of a game of Magic long enough to guarantee a draw under tournament conditions...

comment What Crazy Bridge Bidding Systems Actually Work In Practice?
@woodchips I completely agree with you! It would have been interesting to have been asked what the system was, but we genuinely weren't in an environment where anyone cared very much. We should probably have tried to alert it anyway, I accept that...

comment Can you collect a resource of your choice if you have no production due to the robber?
That's all true, but I think it's still worth answering what (seemed to be) the main thrust of the question: does having production stolen by the robber count as "receiving production". We agree that it doesn't!

comment Can you collect a resource of your choice if you have no production due to the robber?
@Tim: Well, I think it's implied that "the owner of adjacent settlements and cities do not receive resources [for the hex containing the robber, that was just mentioned]". I see the ambiguity in the wording though, good call!

comment When should I activate Man Lands and Keyrunes in order to attack with them?
I feel like saying "Can I declare attackers?" might imply you want to skip the beginning of combat step, but that's a totally different thing from it being impossible for the active player ever to gain priority in the beginning of combat step...

comment When should I activate Man Lands and Keyrunes in order to attack with them?
I'm sceptical of the claim that "you never have priority in your beginning of combat step" - it may be true, but can you back it up further? With reference to the comprehensive rules on shortcuts etc, I guess I mean.

comment What happens if Ravager of the Fells can't target an opponent?
Dammit, my answer as worded totally implied that a flashed-in Witchbane Orb would make the targeted creature illegal. That's not what I meant but very sloppy of me not to consider it. Have edited for what little it's worth at this stage :)

comment What happens if Ravager of the Fells can't target an opponent?
Oh yes, I agree totally that flashing in Witchbane Orb would not make the creature an illegal target. But I'm right that you can't target it in the first place without a targetable opponent at the time, yes? Thanks for the useful clarification.

comment How does the RATUKI card work?
Ooh yeah, Skip-Bo definitely looks to be the same family of game, good spot. So if a Ratuki card is on the top card of the pile, can you play any card at all on top of it? Can you only claim the pile if the Ratuki card was "played as a 5"?
