comment How to reduce slow starts at the beginning of the game?
Rules to check that you're playing correctly: (1) Initial settlement selection goes 1st player, 2nd player, 3rd player, 3rd player, 2nd players 1st player. (2) Second settlement chosen gets all three resources it touches before play begins. (3) you can trade in 4 of one resource for any other. In the scenario your describe it would be very unlikely for a player to not be able to make a trade (with players, then the bank) to get his brick.

comment How can I play Dominion with 5+ players without expansions?
Anyhow people, just try it, it's tons of fun, everyone reshuffling, playing, going all at once. It's mayhem, but unlike normal dominion doesn't drag at all.

@Andrew: Actually, Dominion rules say that cards played are not put into the discard pile until the turn ends. This prevents playing cards twice.

@lilserf: I think we're debating the variation. @Powerlord: I think you're missing something here. If you draw an attack, then want to use it, you call 'attack', wait for everyone to be 'ready' then execute the attack. If someone didn't use all their actions or draws they then continue after the attack, so there can be multiple attacks per turn from the same or different people.

Also, the game is very forgiving. No matter the role you choose it has a benefit. My group once played with a five-year-old who ended up beating us all. Since everyone does the action, it's easy for one player who knows it to execute what needs to be done properly.

Sure it does. Why not? Players all go simultaneously. They only synchronize for attacks. the way the game primarily changes is that players can 'get to the right state' to receive an attack, so some attacks are less powerful (like ones that draw from an opponents draw pile, when he might not have one left because everything's in the discard pile).
