When is it a good time to offer a draw in chess, and when should I accept one? Actually you play for a draw at times when it is to your advantage in a tournament to draw - often if one player can win in a tournament even with a drawn game their opponent will be at a disadvantage. High level (i.e. grandmaster) play also has historically seen many games where the choice of openings was, in essence, a signal to the other player that a draw was somewhat desired (i.e. playing an opening that at grandmaster level play typically leads to a drawn game vs. an opening with far less decided results or "best lines" is a signal. |

Lasting games in the past century having played both Dominion and Magic the Gathering I disagree. Dominion is a good game but lacks the depth and complexity of pro-level MtG (I played in the early tournaments including the first world championship and though I was more focused on being a MtG dealer for a time I had many friends who were serious pro-tour players - winning major tournaments and traveling around the world). I haven't kept up with MtG but the range of tournament types and ongoing pro-tour shows it is still very popular |
