This makes the use of a Unique Asset card the following steps: 1. Test a skill. 2. Check results versus the Back 3. Return card to the Unique Assets supply (note: separate from a discard) UNLESS the card specifies that the investigator may keep it. I agree that it seems poorly-described, but FFG tends to try to look forward to future expansion possibilities with card wordings, and occasionally causes issues with understanding. | |
Nov 17, 2015 at 18:47 | comment | added | Slametherel | I agree with you that it's a bit ambiguously worded, but I think that it can be parsed in a way that's in keeping with both making sure that the character's ability is meaningful, without being game-breakingly amazing. I think that an attempt to prevent being overly-descriptive in wording is causing a bit of lingering ambiguity. From the sound of the FAQ answer listed above, the game intends for resolving a card to be an atomic action. That is, as you resolve the effects of a card, everything happens at once -- the spell fires AND the words fade from the investigator's mind. | |

It just seems wrongly stated and answered, not typical of what I've seen in their faq. Shouldn't it say "Can Edwards use his passive ability to etc" and then be answered by "No, etc", or am I misreading some detail where they are explaining how it actually is used in some way? | |
