A fantasy game where player characters move around a board fighting monsters, gaining treasure and magic items, encountering special spaces, and ultimately vying to be the first to ascend to the Crown of Command to win the game.
Talisman has gone through several editions. The first and second editions both involved a basic board with a small set of characters and cards (cards control encounters, monsters, magic items, etc). Several expansions to the second edition were published; these added characters and cards, alternate win conditions, and several auxiliary gameboards (dungeon, city, etc). The expansions added variety and game length. The third edition heavily revised the board, cards, and some game mechanics, and it too had several expansions. The fourth edition is based on the second edition, with some additions from the third edition and a new board.
