Axis and Allies 1941: In an amphibious assaultWho, Is their retreat? is theirwhen and to where can you retreat in any battle?

I need solid gameOfficial rules only, not house rules. Im trying to figure the game out on how its suppose to be played.

1 - Its a long question sorry, but here it is broken down. I knowHow and when are you cantallowed to retreat, both in an amphibious landing and a land battle, but Im seeing online that you have to fight to the death? I need clarification on this.

So whenThe rules say that you can't retreat in an amphibious assaultbattle. What happens, does the attacker fight to the death? Even if the battle ends with both sides taking one casualty? or doesDoes the attacking force fall back to the transport from once it came and the defender stays put?

2 - In a attacking land battle. Can, can the defender choose to have all (land and air) units retreat to an adjacent friendly/unoccupied territory? or does the attacker only haveOr is the abilityoption to retreat in the middle of the battle after seeing to many casualties happening? OR is it not possibly period andrestricted only planes and submarines have the ability to retreat.
